Darlene Barron has a ceramics materials engineering undergraduate degree and her practice areas include intellectual property litigation in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secrets matters and intellectual property prosecution (U.S. and Foreign), due diligence, freedom to operate, portfolio analysis, strategic counseling and opinions. Darlene’s clients in intellectual property litigation matters include internet marketing companies, pharmaceutical companies, DAS providers, software developers, communications agencies, theatre companies, licensees of software, and patent holders in various industries. In addition, she has worked on several trademark and patent prosecution matters with an emphasis on material science and mechanical devices.
Darlene also has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Prior to becoming an attorney, Darlene worked with corporate clients in the telecommunications industry for over a decade. As a strategic account manager with AT&T/Teleport Communications Group, Darlene served AT&T’s major account teams to deliver SONET Ring disaster recovery solutions to AT&T major and global accounts. In delivering network solutions, she analyzed unit cost structure, calculated break even points and net present values to successfully assist clients in achieving disaster recovery alternatives and cost savings. In these positions, Darlene also interacted with corporate counsel in structuring agent and end user agreements. She also advised clients in filing complaints with the Public Service Commission.

Co-founder of the law firm, Roberto M. Suarez, a U.S. Registered Patent Attorney, is a mechanical engineer, who, in addition to running his own engineering firm for many years, worked for B/E Aerospace (now Rockwell Collins) and Motorola (then, a Google company). Rob’s practice centers on the identification, creation, and protection of intellectual property rights for startups, entrepreneurs, and established corporations. He specializes in patent law and serves clients in other intellectual property matters, including trademark, copyright, and trade secrets. Rob brings over 15 years of product development and engineering experience to his practice. His knowledge of manufacturing and business methods, as well as his grasp of complex technical concepts, helps him to hone in on the most nuanced innovations in order to capture the broadest patentable inventions and distinguish the finer points in a claim. An inventor in his own right, he has developed innovative products for the aviation, marine, consumer electronics, and telecommunication / mobile devices industries. Rob is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as well as the State Bar of Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. Rob is fluent in English and Spanish.
Co-founder William R. Trueba, Jr.’s practice centers on the domestic and international enforcement of intellectual property rights. He is also a U.S. Registered Patent Attorney, with a background in electrical engineering. Will has represented clients in patent infringement lawsuits involving various technologies, including fertilizers, software, lasers, marine equipment, HVAC systems, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, pet products, baby products, hunting equipment, motion detectors, super capacitors, farming methods and others. He has also represented clients in the enforcement of copyrights involving motion pictures, music, artwork, photographs and software, among others. Will has also assisted clients with trademark and trade dress matters involving clothing, inspection services, boats, sunscreen, and other goods and services. In addition to his trial experience, he has also assisted clients with the prosecution of patent, trademark and copyright applications. In 2014, Will was named the Most Effective Lawyer in the Intellectual Property category by the Daily Business Review, for winning a major victory in a patent infringement lawsuit, Tawnsaura v. Vitacost.com, (Central District of California). As an active member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s Model Patent Jury Instructions Subcommittee, he has participated in the revisions made to the Model Patent Jury Instructions for the past two years. He has been selected by his peers as a Super Lawyer for more than five consecutive years and a Florida Trend Magazine Legal Elite. Will received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law and his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University. Prior to going to law school, Will was an engineer with Florida Power & Light Company.
